• You model individual user demands and resulting load profiles based on appliance levels.
• The choice of suitable appliances for managing load will be one of your tasks.
• You use different heuristics in order to manipulate the load profiles.
• You improve the recommendations by using individual load profiles without consistency checks on appliances or desires in a second step.
• By introducing consistency check you even improve the previously designed model.
• You compare the different approaches based on the goals of reducing CO2-emission, cost and improving energy efficiency.


• You study in the fields of physics, environmental modelling, electrical, civil, or renewable energy engineering, cybernetics, process engineering, energy technology or a comparable degree program.
• Good programming skills in Python are required.
• You have already been familiar with energy systems and ideally with simulation software, e.g. oemof or similar open-source packages for Python for energy system calculation.
• You enjoy teamwork and developing models for simulating environments collaboratively.
• Your high affinity for solving problems with self-made algorithms and your independent working methods, enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge complete your profile.

Das DLR-Institut für Vernetzte Energiesysteme ist ein Institut des Deutschen Zentrums für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) mit derzeit rund 130 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern am Standort Oldenburg. Mit seinen Abteilungen Stadt- und Gebäudetechnologien, Energiesystemtechnologie und Energiesystemanalyse widmet sich das Institut systemorientierten Fragestellungen zur intelligenten und effizienten Verknüpfung der Sektoren Strom, Wärme und Verkehr. Vorrangiges Forschungsziel ist die Entwicklung von Konzepten und Technologien, die ein stabiles Energiesystem auf Basis wetterabhängiger und dezentraler Stromerzeugung aus Erneuerbaren Energien sicherstellen.
